COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS (CCSS)

The mission of the Common Core State Standards is to provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help them. The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers. TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM

Our Teachers use variety of digital tools to create curriculum to improve student achievement. Students at Iftin Charter School are able to utilize technology as a learning tool.

Proposition S funding and San Diego Unified’s i21 Interactive Classroom program, we receive technology tools designed to create an engaging and personalized learning environment.

These tools include:

  • Interactive Whiteboards
  • Student Netbooks
  • Printers
  • Presentation Stations
  • Audio/Video System

SPECIAL EDUCATION

Iftin Charter is committed to providing eligible students with disabilities a free and appropriate public education consistent with federal and state laws, including those students enrolled in private schools, wards of the state, highly mobile students with exceptional needs, etc.

ICS and complies with all local SELPA policies and procedures.

Services are provided based on the individual needs of the student. After a team, comprised of educational professionals and the parent(s) determine a students’ unique needs and consider a variety of factors an Individual Education Program (IEP) is created. An IEP is a legal document that describes how Iftin Charter School provides services to a student with exceptional needs. The El Dorado County SELPA is responsible for special education programs run by the Iftin Charter School.

Child Find

Iftin Charter School (ICS) is responsible for identifying, locating, and evaluating children enrolled at ICS with known or suspected disabilities to determine whether a need for special education and related services exists. Pursuant to the individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act IDEA (20 U.S.C. 1400 et. seq) and relevant state law.

If you know of a child who has a disability or that you suspect may have a disability, you may refer that child’s parent or guardian to Iftin Charter School by calling (619) 265-2411. Please note: All referrals are considered confidential.

No student eligible to enroll in ICS is denied enrollment due to a disability or the school’s inability to procure necessary special education services.

ICS complies with all applicable state and federal laws in serving students with disabilities, including, but not limited to, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (Section 504), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Improvement Act (IDEIA).
